The Wolf Hunting

Ohio. A broken, hunted boy. He's never had a normal life, a normal family. His parents, dead. His best friend, missing. Injured, exhausted but determined, always on a desperate and relentless run, trying to escape "them," his tormentors, his pursuers. What do they want from him? Eight billion people, why him? He doesn't know.
Night. It's raining. He leaves the abandoned warehouse where he hoped to take refuge, but he can't spend too long in one place, or "they" will find him. He crosses the Interstate and follows it. He has to get somewhere. He walks for a long time in the rain, cold, injured, hungry. Finally, he comes across a gas station. He sits down, exhausted. The smell coming from the automatic doors drives him crazy. He hears a noise: the engine of a truck has stopped. He approaches, because during his escapes he often steals cars-which he then returns-and so he knows a thing or two about engines, even if they're from a truck. He asks if he can help, and the truck driver, skeptical, after a while agrees. Seeing him repaired, he offers to give him a ride, gratefully, sensing that this boy's life isn't a normal one. The boy, wary, accepts. But who is this man? A friend or just another enemy? He doesn't know. Will he found his missing friend? He hopes so. Will they catch him? Probably. But maybe this time he won't be alone.
