Nothing much happens in Sarendune, a town plopped somewhere in a desert by the same name.  16 year old Declan knows that better than anyone.  When he's not visiting his dad in the hospital or playing mediator between his mom and estranged sister, he spends his days hoverboarding and shoplifting from the local stores.
Until he meets Gizmo.
As eccentric as her name, Gizmo possesses a love for high speed technology and a flair for hilarity that belies her subtle wisdom.  With her urging, Declan begins to escape the rigid strictures of society and seek his own self.
But Gizmo has a secret of her own, one that will ensnare everyone close to her.  And like the scars in her flesh, her dark past cannot be hidden for long.  A mysterious business. An underground operation.  Bit by bit, the past is catching up to them.  And it wants Gizmo back.
