Sammy has spent most of his life learning how to stay quiet-around a painful home, a small town that notices everything, and feelings he has never been allowed to name. Then Oliver calls him "Sammy," and somehow the nickname feels like being seen for the first time. What begins as an unexpected friendship slowly becomes the one place Sammy can breathe. Through late-night walks, stolen conversations, and moments too tender to dismiss, Oliver draws him toward a life beyond fear. But in a town shaped by gossip, homophobia, grief, and family secrets, loving someone may cost more than either boy is prepared to lose. When Oliver Called Me Sammy is a slow-burn queer coming-of-age romance about first love, survival, and the terrifying hope of discovering that you may have always been worthy of tenderness. Story Notes: This story is fictional, but its emotions come from a deeply personal place. I wanted to explore the kind of first love that does not instantly rescue someone, but slowly teaches them that another life may be possible. At its heart, this is a story about being seen. It explores abuse, homophobia, bullying, grief, and complicated families, while also holding onto tenderness, friendship, healing, and hope. Expect a character-driven slow burn, quiet intimacy, emotional tension, and two imperfect boys trying to find safety in each other.

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
