The Boy Is Dead

Raven does not know the boy is dead. He knows about ten percent of the time and does not think about it the other ninety percent of the time. He is in a locked room. Sunlight shines through barred windows. There is a bed with no mattress, and a rusty nail sticking out of one of the legs. Dr. Madorna says it's good. That it teaches 'austerity'. That the Spartans did not have luxury either.

Raven tries to listen to everything Dr. Madorna says.

She hurts him anyway.
