Checkmate

Checkmate, book one in the Chessmen series.

My name is Remi and I am a King. Not some wealthy man who lives in a palace and gets what he wants at the snap of a finger. No, I am much more dangerous and I'm not the only one either.

We are faster than you, stronger than you, smarter than you, more evolved than you and so much more. Genetically enhanced and altered, created in unnatural scientific ways, we can do things only people in books and movies can do and most normal people wish to do. But on top of all of that, we save the world.

The first of us made that were successful are the Knight's, followed by the Bishop's and then the Rook's, and the Queen's until eventually the King's. Each pair a set of twins; One male, one female. Each pair more powerful and successful than the one before. All other tests before us had failed but not us.

They all think it's pretty simple, saving those who can't protect themselves, stopping the bad guys, and at the end of the day, being like the heroes in the fairy tales. But soon their whole world is going to be turned upside down. They will uncover many things on their journey to discover what they are searching for and trust is bound to be broken for these Chessmen. Join them in the discovery of who they are now, who they were meant to be a long time ago, and who they will be one day.
