Tim was a Marine until he was framed for opening fire on a family by his commanding officer and was kicked out of the Marines or any type of military, So instead Tim became a Train Engineer for 5 years and he had to admit, he was pretty damn good at fixing trains, until the god damn apocalypse happened and shit hit the god damn fan fast.
