The Beloved

Come to me... come to me... where the whispers in my being, as I looked out to the cloud filled horizon from atop the ancient sky arenas arched pillar. I could feel the life draining away from me, and I knew I didn't have long. The place on which I stood was the highest height in any realm, and just beyond my toes was the furthest drop. No one had dared climb the sacrificial stone crescent in centuries, but here I was a girl, seconds away from certain death, whether I stayed or lept. I could hear the gaps and screams of the entire arena as I knew all attention was on me. But the words echoed over and over in me, as the sun and wind delicately touched my skin.
Maybe, just maybe... he was calling to me. Would I... answer?
