New has one rule. Never fall for straight men. Not again. Not ever. Years of heartbreak have taught him that lesson well. Every time he lets himself hope, he ends up watching the man he loves choose a woman and the future New was never meant to be part of. So he stopped hoping. Or at least he tried to. As a bartender, New spends his nights surrounded by lonely people and broken hearts. His job is to listen, smile, and make strangers feel a little less miserable before they leave. Then Off walks into his bar. Freshly heartbroken after his fiancée left him for another man, Off is charming without meaning to be, kind when New least expects it, and far too easy to care about. New knows he should keep his distance. He knows exactly how this story ends. Straight men do not fall in love with him. They never stay. Then one rainy night, after closing the bar, New finds Off collapsed beside a trash bin in a dark alley. His first instinct is to walk away. Then Off looks up and whispers, "Help me. Please." New's conscience betrays him. The next morning, Off wakes up in New's apartment with a pounding headache and no memory of how he got there. Finding himself shirtless in a stranger's bed, he stares at New in horror. "What did you do to me?" he demands. "You're gay, right? Did you take advantage of me?" The accusation hits harder than it should. Every assumption. Every insult. Every straight man who made New feel like a mistake comes rushing back. A slow smile spreads across his face. "Oh?" he says. "Funny. Last night, you were the one begging for more." Off's face drains of color. "So tell me, Off. How exactly are you planning to take responsibility?" "Some people enter your life when you're healing. Others make you question whether you ever healed at all." Ika's Note: As much as I love all Newwiee's ghostships, I also love TayNew. Tay will never be in any of the AUs I write here. He's happy in another universe with his own New.

Four hearts. Four directions. No clean escape. Tay and New begin on the wrong foot-mostly because Tay can't stop poking at the question: why is New always hovering around Gun? What Tay doesn't know is that Gun was the one who reached out first, befriending New in a quiet, desperate hope that proximity might somehow pull him closer to Off-New's best friend and the university's untouchable soccer star. From there, everything tangles. Between varsity practices, accidental collisions in hallways, and looks that linger just a second too long, rivalry softens into something dangerously close to intimacy. New rules the basketball court. Off owns the soccer field. Tay-officially the school photographer-finds himself covering every game possible, not for the sport, but for Gun, the head cheerleader who lights up the sidelines. The problem is simple. And impossible. Tay likes Gun. Gun likes Off. Off doesn't care about anything that doesn't involve New. And New is falling-slowly, irreversibly-for Tay. Friendship blurs into jealousy. Loyalty collides with desire. Every choice hurts someone, and no one gets out untouched. Love is complicated. This one is brutal.
