Selective mutism. Traumatic mutism. Mutism.
Three words Bailey had heard way too many times in her life.

Fake. Phoney. Attention-seeker. Stupid. Retard.
Just a few more words that’d graced her ears so much more than anyone else’s.

Only being able to talk to a select range of people can seriously suck, especially when you can’t choose who those people are.
How could you fall in love? How could you get a job? How could you teach your kids to read? How could you handle the constant whispers and glances?

Life really isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of it. Bailey has lost so much in her life, but she isn’t giving up any time soon.
