I always hated taking pictures. Not because I think it's nonsense, but because I never believed I was meant to be photographed. There's something unsettling about being turned into a still image-like someone trying to prove you existed in a way you can never truly recognize. I used to think I was just bad at it. Awkward angles. Forced smiles. Eyes that never quite looked alive enough. So I stopped trying. But maybe it was never that I hated being photographed. Maybe I just hated being captured by people who never really knew how to see me.
