I never expected college to feel this lonely. My roommate, Mikela, barely spends time in our dorm anymore because she's always with her boyfriend, leaving me surrounded by people who don't really see me. The only person I somehow can't avoid is Aaron-his best friend and roommate's roommate. It's almost funny how life keeps forcing us together. Group projects, shared classes, campus events... somehow he's always there.

Aaron makes it obvious he doesn't like me. He's cold, blunt, and never hesitates to brush me off, even when I'm only trying to be polite. I know I'm quiet, awkward, and probably too sensitive, but I can't help wanting him to notice me for something other than being a nuisance. No matter how hard I try, he always keeps me at arm's length. Yet beneath every sarcastic comment and icy glare, I can't shake the feeling there's more to him than he'll ever admit.

Aaron

People think I'm the bad guy because I don't waste time pretending to like everyone. They're not wrong. Most people are exhausting, and I prefer keeping them away. Good grades come easy enough, and I only care about the handful of people worth my time. Unfortunately, Giselle keeps ending up in my life.

She's everywhere. Every class, every assignment, every situation I can't escape. She's too nice, too careful, too eager to make everyone comfortable, especially me. I don't understand why she even bothers. She should've learned by now that I don't want her attention.

Still... she never stops trying. No matter how cold I am, she always answers with quiet kindness instead of anger. It's irritating. Confusing. And the more fate insists on pushing us together, the harder it becomes to ignore the girl I keep telling myself I can't stand.
