The Ember's Burden

In the jagged, towering peaks of the dragon realm, power is dictated by the elements. Drakina, the last descendant of the noble Flame lineage, once thrived in the stratosphere, her inner fire burning a brilliant, volatile violet. But following the death of her father and her mother Saiandai's ill-fated marriage to Silas Draken-a cold-hearted, power-hungry Earth Dragon-her life is shattered.
When Silas moves his two sons, Kael and Bram, into their home, the manor at Obsidian Crag becomes a prison. Silas uses his formidable earth-magic to suppress Drakina's abilities, forcing her into the subterranean tunnels of the estate to serve as a slave. Stripped of her freedom and denied the skies, Drakina is reduced to a shadow of her former self, living under the constant threat of her step-family's cruelty.

However, the laws of the elements cannot be contained forever. As an unprecedented, magical storm approaches the mountains, the dormant lightning in Drakina's blood begins to react. Armed with her forbidden violet flames and a mastery of aerial combat that her captors cannot comprehend, Drakina must decide between the safety of the shadows and the dangerous, liberating power of the storm.
