Xehanort was planning to summon the X-Blade to open Kingdom Heart so he can erase the worlds and remake them in his image. Sora and his friends arrive in a world called K-Blade Graveyard after defeating most of the Organizarion XIII and free Terra from Xehanort's control, Xehanort kidnapped Kairi and struck her down, killing her. Out of anger, Sora will try to attack Xehanort, but Riku and King Mickey might also try to fight the Organizarion's leader but gets frozen in time and Xehanort managed to forge the X-Blade. He summons Kingdom Hearts and fled to a world called Scala Ad Calum to unleash amounts of dark magic.
Sora determined, he chose to use the Power of Waking to go back in time and save Kairi from ever being killed by Xehanort. Despite Mickey and Xehanort's warnings that the Power ok Waking wasn't really meant for that, Sora will use it anyway.
After he does go back in time, and prevents Kairi's fate from ever being killed, Sora and his friends will follow Xehanort to Sacla Ad Calum where they'll devise a plan. Sora, Donald and Goofy challenge Xehanort for their final battle while the others kept Kingdom at Bay. After a tough and rigorous fight, they finally defeated Xehanort. The team decided to celebrate in Sora's Kairi's and Riku's home world Destiny Island and have fun at the beach. However, just as Xehanort told him, the Power of Waking finally paying his toll, after saying farewells to Kairi.... he promises that he will return back home as he starts vanishe in front of everyone.
