Calamity

A small percentage of humanity is born with supernatural abilities known as Gifts. Some are minor and harmless, while others possess enough power to devastate entire cities. Despite their existence, the truth remained hidden from the public.
Governments across the globe spent decades covering up power-related incidents, disguising them as accidents, natural disasters, or unexplained events. Gifted individuals were often monitored, recruited, trained, or contained depending on the threat they posed. To the average person, powers were nothing more than myths and fiction.
Eventually, the growing number of powered individuals made secrecy impossible. The truth was revealed to the world.
The revelation sparked panic, outrage, and fear. People questioned how long governments had hidden the existence of powers and what other secrets remained buried. Yet as time passed, society adapted. Humanity realized that powered individuals had always lived among them.
In response, nations established Hero Agencies, Power Development Programs, and specialized academies to train gifted individuals. Powers became a public reality, creating a new era where heroes, villains, students, criminals, and governments all compete for influence.
