Clara hasn't spoken a word since she was four years old.

When her parents decide to spend their later years in a small town, she has no choice but to follow - back into a house full of strangers, noise, and people who expect things from her she doesn't know how to give. She retreats to her room, her books, and the dark, empty bath where everything feels controlled again.

Then there's Stas. Twenty-five, easy-going, embedded in every corner of the town - the kind of person Clara has spent her whole life avoiding. He's only there to fix the pipes. He's not supposed to notice the girl watching him through a cracked door. He's definitely not supposed to be the reason she finally speaks.
