The Teacher Next Door

Steve Harrington is a 35 year old teacher at Hawkins high school as well as a baseball and basketball coach. He comes back at the beginning of a school year and has a new colleague. Or at least he thinks she is new. She's a transfer from Hawkins middle school and a former Hawkins high school grad who he doesn't recognize but she recognizes him immediately. Alexandrina Munson (age 33) is a voluntary transfer teacher to Hawkins high school taking over the 9th grade reading and writing classes as well as the drama club. Never popular in high school, she wasn't unpopular either. She existed in the weird space where people knew her as kind and quiet but never took too much notice beyond that. She was never mean, never loud and never caused any issues. She got decent grades, avoided drama like it was a plague and preferred the company of books and writing to parties. Steve may not remember her but she remembers him and unlike most people from Hawkins high she doesn't avoid Steve Harrington because he was King Steve. She doesn't hate Steve, she is kind and open to him because it's who she is. Her cousin, Eddie (yes, he's alive and well) once suggested after the Hawkins earthquake he set Steve up with his cousin Allie. She attended basketball games with Robin, attended Corroded Coffin shows to support Eddie and volunteered with after school clubs tutoring kids in reading and writing. Billy Hargrove showed interest in her during his senior year much to Eddie's dismay. And they dated briefly and ended messily as most of Billy's relationships did with tears, bruises and threats from Eddie to stay away from Allie. She didn't date much after that. Now as an adult she is healing from her past with her cousins help, working with Steve and Robin at the high school and learning what life is like when you take a chance on the teacher next door.
