After his friends reject his book club and his dreams of becoming an author seem farther away than ever, Alikai's luck changes when he meets a mysterious stranger in a bookstore. Impressed by his writing, the man gifts him an ancient book, a bottle of ink, and a strange pen before vanishing without a trace.

But the gifts are anything but ordinary.

When Alikai discovers that every story he has ever written now fills the pages of the book, impossible things begin to happen. Names rewrite themselves. Pens move on their own.
