After the death of her daughter, DSA Agent Aurora Robbins is forced on vacation to Forks, Washington. With some resistance, she attends therapy at the General Hospital where she unwittingly will be introduced to a man who is everything she wants, while also being the very thing she's sworn to kill.

When bodies start turning up, Aurora is the first one to jump into action, unknowingly walking into a trap that's been set for months.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" Aurora demanded, though her angry glare didn't have the intended effect on him.

Carlisle shook his head, his blonde hair kissing the side of his face effortlessly, and it made her want to smack him-and kiss him-all at once. "No," he said at almost a whisper. His golden eyes were sincere, sad, but full of empathy. "I'm going to sit here and let you feel what you need to feel."

A sob pushed past her lips and she found herself leaning forward, pushing her face into his chest as she allowed herself to melt down. The cold of his skin on hers felt like a balm to the molten lava that was the blood in her veins. Where she should have been afraid, she only wanted him closer. It was scary.

It was scary to love such a creature, and know that they loved you back.
