You know that feeling just before you fall asleep, when you are not quite unconscious but the world has gone soft at the edges and anything feels possible?
That is what the mansion does to Nuea. That is what it feels like from the very first night. Like standing on the border of something. Like the air is thinner here and the dark is deeper and whatever lives in the space between the walls has been saving this particular feeling, this particular pull, for him and him alone.
He inherited a house. He was supposed to sell it.
He was not supposed to feel, in a place this cold and this broken and this haunted, like he had finally come home.
Nearly two hundred years of secrets are buried in these walls.
