When Rome Fell Silent

Main Character: Sofía Castillo, 19 years old, a Mexican American girl from Texas. She travels to Rome after receiving a scholarship to study art history. She wants adventure before starting college and has no idea that her life is about to change.

The Boy: Lorenzo De Luca, 24 years old. Handsome, mysterious, and always dressed impeccably. Sofía meets him after getting lost in Rome's narrow streets near a small café. He seems charming but guarded. Unknown to her, Lorenzo is the reluctant heir to one of Italy's most powerful mafia families.

At first, she thinks he's just another local being kind to a tourist.

He lets her borrow his phone, helps her find her family, and shows her hidden corners of Rome tourists never see.

But then strange things begin happening.

Men in dark suits watch Lorenzo from a distance.

Sofía overhears arguments in Italian she can't understand.

Someone warns her: "Stay away from him if you value your life."

Lorenzo suddenly disappears for days at a time.

Then Sofía discovers the truth.

His father, the head of the De Luca family, has been killed, and Lorenzo is being forced to take over the organization he never wanted to lead.

Now Sofía has a choice:
