Stailmate

In a small oceanside town, Charlotte Meanders sits, smokes, and silently holds a grudge. After a particularly nasty (and embarrassingly public) fit of rage after losing an important chess tournament, Charlie stubbornly leaves the chess scene at the demand of a petition signed by nearly everyone within the community. After running from potential legal troubles to the coast in a small beachside neighborhood, an incident with the semi-evil president of her HOA blackmails Charlie into "doing time"(volunteering) at the HOA country club's Tuesday Board Game Night. At her first shift while begrudgingly handing out caviar to mean old people, a glimpse of a girl with bubble gum pink hair at a chessboard catches her eye.

"Marina Oceanwater" has tried it all. After creating the fake identity, learning to get around on land with no suspicion, and many failed attempts at secretly infiltrating human society she is fresh out of ideas. As a the leading "humantologist"and nepo-baby conqueror of the mer-community, she has staked her already asinine reputation on the impossible task of infiltrating humankind. With the ultimate goal of becoming the Mermaid Overlord of the Overworld, she must find whomever is in charge of humankind and vanquish them.

After another one of Marina's failed "take over the world" attempts ends up with the board game night in flames and the girls fighting over a tiki torch, she and Charlie end up in the local jail holding cell. In a temporary truce called to break out of the prison they realize the talents of the other and each form their own slightly evil plans.

Teaming up, their lives become entwined with magically water filled adventures, secrets, romance, and betrayal. Most importantly, they set out to destroy the most evil leader in all human kind.... the HOA president?
