The energy in the air was high with excitement As it was July 4th, the reaping day for the 50th hunger games, aka, the second quarter quell. 14-year-old Alexis Karos wasn't interested in such things. As a student of The Academy in the capitol, she logically should, but she wasn't.

Whatever the outcome of this year's games won't matter to her. All she wants is to graduate in 4 years, get a scholarship to the university and then join the government and in the future become president to actually make this country better.
