You weren't supposed to follow him.

You were only supposed to guard him, guide him, and protect him while he lived on the Sphere.
Never grow attached. That's what you've always been told.

Yet as you watched Rudo fall, disappearing beyond the edge of the Sphere, into the darkness of a world you knew better than he ever could, becoming smaller and smaller until he vanished into the dark clouds below, all you could think about was how terrified he must be. The thought alone was enough to make you break every rule you've ever known. So, you abandoned the heavens and followed.

Maybe it was selfish. Maybe it was foolish. But you had spent years at his side, watching him grow, watching him laugh, watching him stubbornly throw himself into trouble again and again, and somewhere along the way, he had become something more than just your ward.
