The Bond Between Worlds Part 1

Diane Whitlock crosses into Middle-earth with a coffee in her hand and absolutely no plan.
She knows how this story goes. She's seen it a dozen times from the safety of a sofa. She knows who survives, who doesn't, and exactly how much it's going to hurt - which makes every laugh around the campfire feel like a small, quiet cruelty.
What she doesn't know is why, every time she closes her eyes, she ends up in silver halls talking to someone she can't quite see. Someone ancient and guarded and lonelier than he lets on. Someone whose grief she can feel like it's her own.
The Company is dangerous enough. The dreams are worse.
By the time the eagles carry her off a burning cliff at the edge of the world, she's already in too deep - and somewhere far away, on the other side of a bond neither of them chose, so is he.
She just doesn't know his name yet.

The only character who belongs to me is Diane Whitlock. All other characters and the world of Middle-earth are from The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. Some scenes and timelines may differ from both the book and the films.
