Yui Can't Date

Yui Can't Date is a supernatural romance about two lonely boys who teach each other how to live, one from beyond the grave, and one who's still here but just as invisible.

Ken Daisuke is a quiet teenager who can't imagine a future for himself. The only bright spot in his life is his crush on Yui Takaoka, a girl with mismatched eyes who dreams of becoming an author. But Ken never acts on his feelings. He just watches from a distance. Then, in a moment of carelessness, he's hit by a train and dies.

He wakes up in a void, face-to-face with a goddess named Jellybean. Because his karma is perfectly balanced, not good enough for reincarnation, not bad enough for punishment: he's sent back to the living world as a yokai, a spirit. The first human he touches will be the only one who can see him. That person is Midori Katsu, a boy exactly like Ken used to be: painfully shy, invisible to others, and secretly in love with the same girl-Yui.

Now Ken has until the end of the year to turn Midori into someone confident enough to date Yui, the girl Ken himself loved but never approached. It's a story about second chances that aren't your own, but it's also Midori's story: a boy who's spent his whole life feeling like a ghost, slowly learning that he's allowed to take up space, to speak up, to reach for what he wants. As Ken guides Midori toward love, both of them discover what it actually means to be alive and about discovering that even in death, life can finally begin.
