In a new twist toward the darker and more angst-laden, the happy and carefree Lieutenant Perry gets into a horrific accident, and Captain Kashesh, who's already been grappling with mental health issues, has no idea how to deal with it (although the answer probably isn't drinking Natty Light for breakfast.)
