You always wanted more as a child; you hardly had anyone but yourself. You grew to desire any sort of emotion, any spark of excitement, but all you were met with was a lingering void in your heart.
As the years passed, life became little more than a repetitive cycle. Wake up. Go to work. Come home exhausted. Sleep. Then do it all over again.
Your job drained whatever energy you had left. Endless paperwork, endless deadlines, endless conversations with people you barely cared about. By the time you got home each day, you felt more like a machine than a person.
You became attached to the internet because, for the first time, you felt accepted
there. It gave you an escape from the dull routine. You found yourself scrolling endlessly in search of entertainment, no matter how strange or ridiculous it was.
That was how you discovered this odd Sonic game.
It reminded you of when you were younger and constantly begged your mom to buy you one of Sonic's games, only to hear the same excuse every time.
"You're far too old to be playing such games."
The words always stung.
You never really got the chance to enjoy your childhood. You never got to experience your teenage years the way everyone else seemed to.
So maybe...
Just maybe...
