Starting fifth grade was supposed to be easy.
At least, that's what Penny Piper thought.
But within the first week, she's already embarrassed herself in front of her entire class, earned the attention of the school's biggest troublemaker, and somehow become the target of the meanest girl in grade school. To make matters worse, her best friend seems to be making new friends, group projects are a disaster, and everyone keeps talking about middle school like it's the end of the world.
As one bad day turns into another, Penny begins to wonder if she's completely terrible at being a fifth grader.
With the help of a few unexpected friends, a lot of determination, and more than a few mistakes, Penny must figure out how to survive the biggest year of elementary school before it completely survives her.
