Nico di Angelo never expected her. She seemed, at the moment, another demigod that was rescued. She would soon blend in at camp with the others, be another camper with no significance to him. She would forget about him, and he, her — or so he thought.
An unlikely friendship forms — and possibly something more — if they two could get past the embarrassment and awkwardness. Too soon, problems arise, and she is cursed with an incurable disease that's slowly turning her hair and eyes silver. As her end begins to draw nearer and nearer, he realizes that there's nothing he won't do, to sacrifice, to save those silver eyes.

Nico di Angelo is finally happy. He's learning to accept himself for his sexuality and as a son of Hades. After everything horrible that has happened to him, he's slowly getting better with the help of Will and his friends. Will Solace finally got the boy of his dreams. The boy he had a crush on since he was 11 years old. He's starting to realize that he isn't as useless as he thinks he is, and that he's actually worth something. Everything is going great for a while. But just like it always is for demigods, nothing good ever lasts. The death of Nico's first and closest friend Jason Grace puts a sudden end to the sunshine that currently brightens Nico's life for once.
