Bad Ending's Party: A Sniper's Requiem
He died twice. Both times, he came back.
Lihan was sixteen when Calypso stole his adventuring party and left him for dead. Heartbroken, he took a suicidal quest and died fighting a Venomspine Wyrm-only to wake in 1926 Bavaria, adopted by an American diplomat and his British wife. Renamed Karl Fairburne, he became the deadliest sniper of World War II: the Desert Ghost, the Mountain Butcher, the Rubble Ghost. He buried a Nazi occult weapon beneath a mountain. He killed the SS general who wore Calypso's face. And then he died again.
Now the Void has returned him to Aethelgard, to the same cave where his first life ended. He is still thirty-five. His wounds are gone. And his spatial inventory has become a World War II arsenal-Springfields, Garands, MP40s, explosives, rations, and a silver locket engraved E.F. for the mother he lost at Pearl Harbor.
Karl has one mission: find Calypso and finish what started twenty years ago. But the world has changed. Ashe and Rei may be dead, retired, or still under Calypso's control. And when Karl kills an outcast direwolf, he inherits her two cubs through the Law of Life Debt-Ghost, a shadow-silent male, and Artemis, a huntress with an uncanny nose.
Now he has a pack. Now he has something to protect. But the question burning in his chest is one he doesn't know how to answer:
Does he chase the bad ending... or finally write a different one?
