Preface
The King has taken three wives, yet still the question of succession remains uncertain
.From his first marriage to queen Evelina of House Tyliven, he has two daughters Eleoner and Liliana. By the laws of the realm, they were meant to inherit the throne, regardless of gender. From his second marriage to queen Aurelia of House Seraphel, he has Elara, further binding powerful houses to the crown.
But the King has no legitimate son.
Years before these marriages, the King fathered a bastard son, Richard, with a princess of House Univar. The boy, older than all three daughters, stands as a dangerous figure in the struggle for power, unlawful by birth, yet connected to one of the most influential houses in the realm. Some believe his blood makes him worthy of the throne. Others see him as a threat to the order of succession.
Seeking to secure his legacy, the King later married a princess of House Jadiren, a house known for its ancient lineage and influence. Now, she carries a child, and the court whispers that it will be a son.
The King before King Alaric has already broken tradition, altering the law, allowing his nephew, King Alaric to stand above his own daughters in the line of succession. Yet despite this, King Alaric has declared his eldest daughter his rightful heir, casting doubt upon this rule and dividing the realm.
