Christopher Cornell grew up in a household where Catholic doctrine was law. Suffocated by an abusive father, he found in atheism and music the only firm ground to stand on while spending his days working his family's traditional Italian farm.

Exhausted from performing a faith that no longer belonged to him, he leaves the farm behind to sink his roots into the gray Portland of the 1990s, sharing a dilapidated apartment with his old friend, Eddie Vedder.

Convinced he has left the shadow of religion behind, Chris doesn't expect destiny to cross his path with Beatrice-a novice of Neapolitan blood whose presence dazes him from the very first glance.
