Wrong timing, right chaos

Steve Harrington and Hayley Henderson have hated each other for as long as anyone can remember. Not the playful kind of hate either. The kind that lingers in hallway stares, sharp comments, and the refusal to ever, under any circumstances, be on the same side of anything. Steve thinks she's reckless and impossible to read. Hayley thinks he's all charm and no substance. Neither of them is interested in being proven wrong.

Then the Upside Down gets worse.

When new creatures start slipping through cracks Hawkins can't close on its own, they're forced into the same group-same missions, same danger, same air they'd both rather not share. Every plan turns into a silent competition. Every argument becomes a power struggle. And every time they barely survive something, it only makes the tension between them sharper.

They do everything they can to avoid each other in the middle of chaos. Steve takes point just to not stand near her. Hayley volunteers for dangerous routes just to not rely on him. But Hawkins doesn't care about their pride. It keeps throwing them into situations where trust isn't optional.

And somewhere between the fighting, the near-death escapes, and the moments they accidentally save each other without meaning to... the line between hatred and something else starts to blur.

Because it turns out the thing they hate most might not be each other.

It might be how much they understand each other when it matters.

But crossing that line? That's the dangerous part. Not monsters. Not the Upside Down.
