For two centuries, the kingdom of Eryndor has lived under the shadow of the Dragon King of the northern mountains.
Stories claim he burns villages that trespass on his lands, steals livestock, destroys armies, and hoards treasures beneath his mountain fortress. Mothers use his name to frighten children into obedience.

The truth is far more complicated.

Beyond the mountains, something ancient sleeps beneath the ice-something Sylus has spent centuries containing. Every village burned was infected. Every army destroyed attempted to break the seals keeping the creature imprisoned.

The kingdom never learned the difference between a butcher and a guardian.
