An assignment I had from high school in 1990 was to take a point toward the end of a Brave New World and rewrite an ending. There were more requirements, but that has been lost to the ages. What survived was a typed a version on my dad's old IBM typewriter.

It's been almost a hundred years since Earth's civilizations fell, leaving only ruins and memories. Long before the collapse, they began taking humans, but now, everyone knows who they are and they fear them. The few who manage to return from their captivity tell stories of how these creatures treat humans like animals or children, tending to them like pets or slaves.
