Dean Winchester had never been much of a man of prayer. Yet one night, with despair running through him as surely as the blood in his veins, the innocence of his heart prayed. It prayed for something better, for love, for a reason to keep going.

Dreams do come true, sometimes. Sometimes, prayers are heard. Sometimes, faith is only a tiny spark-but even the smallest spark is still faith. Of course, it demands patience. A great deal of patience. A great deal of time. But some prayers are answered. And even when hope fades, when the prayer itself is forgotten like some foolish, childish whim, those that have been heard will one day be answered.

And waited.

Patience had never been his greatest strength. Yet the purity of his heart had made him a contented believer, even if he wouldn't discover it until much, much, much later.
