If you asked anyone at West Valley High who's life they wanted the most, the answer would always be the same.
Kai LaRusso's.
His life looked like it came out of every early 2000s teen movie. He was the school's basketball star, destined for playing under the lights of the NBA. He had the charm that made any girl in the Valley pine over him. He was the first son of the famous Karate legend-turned car salesman Daniel LaRusso. And of course, he got to have the area's infamous ice queen, Yasmine, on his arm during every lunch break and walk to class.
Unlike the rest of his family, Kai never cared much for karate. As far as he was concerned, basketball was the only fight worth winning.
But the San Fernando Valley is changing. What started as a nearly harmless Karate tournament has evolved into what can only be described as an area-wide gang war. With reports of bullying increasing day by day, parents are scrambling to enroll their kids into a dojo, any dojo, to learn how to defend themselves, before their child is next.
Daniel's constant insistence that Kai begins learning Miyagi-Do only makes the basketball star distance himself further away from Karate as a whole than he was before. Will Kai eventually submit to his father's pleas, or will he follow a method that nearly destroyed his father all those years ago?
