After years of ongoing domestic abuse, Darren Lynch bolts. He leaves everything behind, Ballylaggin, his parents, and unfortunately, his siblings. After applying to a top university and receiving a full-ride scholarship behind his parent's back, he hops on the quickest train to Belfast to attend Queen's university. At Queen's, he meets a group of friends that sees him more than the scars on his back and face, but still, he can't seem to overcome his history of fighting and sexual assault, that is, until the irritating blonde boy he meets one day breaks down his protective walls.

Alex Connery's childhood was his favourite part of his entire life. The way he grew up is nothing like university, where he has to be an adult. After his twin sister experiences a series of struggle of self harm, he doesn't hesitate to help the boy with the sad blue eyes that he meets on his first day of school. Although, he's quite stubborn and won't let him completely in. They don't get along, not until something he finds out about him that changes his perspective on everyone.
