Third Reich's legacy falls over Germany and his brothers, and that hurts him deeply. He despised what he father used to do to them all and people didn't make it any better, with dumb stereotypes and Nazi insults. His personality had grown quiet, reserved, only speaking when he trusted someone or when he had no other option.
Meanwhile, Spain used to be cheerful once, unlike him, but again, people dimmed her charm, and she hates that. Yes, she's still "cheerful" in a way, but now she wasn't innocent. She had grown up lonely and it showed from the lack of trust in some people, even if she joked around sometimes. She would give anything to be...her, again. To not being worried of laughing too loudly or saying a joke too dumb or childish.
But both paths had found their way to unite their destinies, and they understand eachother because they had been judged for completely different reasons but ended up almost in the same way and place.
