On a planet where violence, poverty, and fear are part of daily life, rumors still linger about places where life still thrives. Iris follows the story of Eli Erden, a boy who survives by stealing and scavenging for food to care for his ailing mother while trying to find a way to escape the squalor of the city where he was born. In this world, all humans possess Sequoia, the primary energy source they all possess, little studied, though not everyone uses it in the same way. Amidst trade routes, gang-controlled governments, uncharted territories, and people willing to do anything to survive, Eli will begin to discover that the world is far larger, crueler, and stranger than he ever imagined.
