Lavell Dubois has spent most of his life being the person everyone avoids. Brilliant, unsettling, and fascinated by death in ways most people can't understand, he's learned to live with the rumors. Future serial killer. Freak. Monster. It doesn't matter. High school is almost over, and he's counting the days until he can leave it... and everyone in it, behind. And then- he meets her. Quiet, anxious, and impossible to figure out, Bonnie is the kind of girl who disappears into the background. She spends her days sketching people who never notice her, hiding behind long sleeves and lowered eyes. To everyone else, she's just another weird kid. To Lavell, she's a mystery he can't stop thinking about. What begins as an awkward lab partnership quickly becomes something neither of them expected. As old wounds surface and dangerous obsessions take root, the line between curiosity, affection, and fixation begins to blur. For Lavell, Bonnie becomes the one thing he can't organize, explain, or force out of his mind. And some obsessions cut deeper than a knife.
