Jake is a bully. He knows it; he's not proud. Wailing on Mike, pushing around Felix. Yet, Fleur Riley has always been a challenge for him. She is just like him, minus a few things.
That's why the two have never been able to get along. At every point they're butting heads and having a go at each other. It doesn't help that their last names place them together in most classes.

After Jake and his group return from going missing on an excursion, Fleur notices he is beginning to change. He's becoming nicer, no longer bullying anyone; being civil.
