Grace Ellery knows two things for certain:

Love hurts, and people always leave.

After years of an exhausting on-again, off-again relationship she can't seem to escape, Grace has become an expert at pretending she's fine. Between classes, tutoring sessions, and trying to keep her life from falling apart, she's convinced herself that chaos is just another word for love.

Luke is supposed to be another arrogant athlete she helps pass a class and forgets about. Instead, he's patient. Observant. Annoyingly kind. And worst of all, he notices the things Grace works hardest to hide.

As late-night study sessions turn into unexpected conversations, Grace finds herself drawn to someone who makes her feel something she's never felt before: safe.

But leaving the past behind isn't as easy as walking away. Especially when the person who hurt you still knows exactly how to pull you back in.
