Kira Mikazuki is only fifteen years old, yet she is already appointed as a Hashira - and she is not exactly welcomed with open arms by the others.

Because Kira possesses a Breathing Style that even she does not fully understand.

Ever since she joined the Demon Slayer Corps, she has been haunted by a past she can barely remember. All that remains to her is a mysterious necklace and the Shadow Breathing she has mastered so well. But the stronger her emotions become, the more something dark seems to awaken within her.

As Kira tries to find her place among the Hashira, she meets people who come to mean more to her than she initially expected. Muichiro Tokito, in particular, seems strangely familiar to her - although neither of them can explain why.

But as more and more demons appear and Kira's forgotten past slowly comes to light, she realizes that her story is far older than she ever imagined.

A legacy of shadows connects the past and the present.

And Kira must find out whether she is strong enough to carry it - or whether it will eventually consume her.
