​Dimitry Alexandrejevich Mikhail moves to Paris to teach advanced art history at a French university.

​He served his years in the military down in Moscow and across Russia. But bound by the heavy history of his family name, he left it all behind. Or so he thought.

​Genevieve Rousseau studies art history in Paris. She lives alone, having been kicked out of her father's house when he remarried after her mother's death. She has her own group of friends, and her own apartment-an inheritance left to her by her late mother.

​Everything changes on a rainy October night when, on her way home, she is brutally attacked. And Dimitry finds her.
​Everything starts to crumble the moment he decides to help her.

​And later, lets her in.
