Shift The Current: Storm Warning

Damian Cross knows how this story is supposed to go.
Hero shows up. Villain causes chaos. Hero saves the day. City cheers.
Simple.
At least, it used to be.
With blue lightning under his skin and the Hero Commission watching his every move, Damian has spent his life trying to become the kind of hero people believe in. The kind who never hesitates. Never breaks. Never asks too many questions.
Then a new villain hits Arcfall.
Flashy, Dangerous. Impossible to ignore.
He leaves destruction behind like a signature, red cracks splitting through steel and concrete,
whole buildings trembling like they're
scared of him. He should be just another threat for Damian to take down.
But the attacks are getting bolder.
The Commission's answers are starting to sound rehearsed.
And for the first time, Damian isn't being sent in alone.
To keep him in line, the Commission assigns him a new partner: a sharp, disciplined hero with a talent for shadows, strategy, and challenging Damian at every turn.
She follows orders.
He breaks them.
She thinks before she moves.
He moves first and lets the property damage file a complaint later.
It should make the mission easier.
It absolutely does not.
Because this villain doesn't fight like a stranger.
He knows Damian's moves before Damian makes them. Knows exactly how to get under his skin. Knows things no one outside
Damian's past should know.
And worst of all?
He seems to be enjoying himself.
As the attacks grow bolder and the Commission tightens its grip.
Damian finds himself chasing more than a villain. He's chasing a secret buried under years of lies, old grief, and a disaster no one wants him digging up.
The city wants a hero.
The Commission wants obedience.
His new partner wants a plan.
The villain wants Damian's attention.
And Damian?
Damian wants the truth
Even if it destroys everything he thought he was fighting for.
