Princess Angel Cinderward has spent her entire life trapped beneath the weight of royal duties. At thirteen, she runs away from Lunaris Glade and joins a Guard Academy under a false name, where she meets Dante Carreno and begins building the life she always wanted.

Years later, Angel is engaged, raising twin daughters, and preparing to serve a village alongside Dante. But when a group of Shadow Knights tears their family apart, Angel is forced to flee with her children and finds herself in Phoenix Drop, a village with no Lord.

There, Angel meets Aphmau, a mysterious young woman who soon becomes the centre of Phoenix Drop's future. As Aphmau begins helping the village rebuild and steps closer to becoming its Lord, Angel finds herself drawn into her growing circle of friends, guards, enemies, and secrets. While searching for Dante and protecting her daughters, Angel joins Aphmau on dangerous journeys across Ru'aun, facing Shadow Knights, powerful magic, hidden pasts, and threats that could destroy everything they are trying to build.
