The day my wife disappeared, she left behind everything that was supposed to matter.

Me. Our unborn child. The life we'd spent years building together.

No note. No explanation. Just an empty house and a silence that never stopped echoing.

I spent the next seven years convincing myself she was selfish. That she had chosen freedom over family. It was the only answer that made the anger easier to carry.

Then she came home.

She looked exactly the same.

She refused to tell me where she'd been.

And strange things started happening.

The tide crept impossibly far inland whenever she was upset. Rain arrived beneath cloudless skies. Saltwater appeared where it shouldn't. People who threatened her seemed to disappear without a trace, while others swore they'd seen impossible things moving beneath the waves.

Everyone insists it's coincidence.

I know better.

The woman who abandoned me is hiding something so enormous that even she seems afraid to speak its name.

I don't know whether to forgive her.

I don't even know if she's still the woman I married.

But one thing has become clear-

The sea is upset she's home.
