When notorious West Baltimore teen Michael Lee transfers to Patterson High for his junior year, his reputation follows him. Rumors paint him as a drug dealer, a killer, and someone no one should get close to. While the rest of the school keeps their distance, Breanna Barnes chooses to see the person behind the stories.

After they're paired together for a school project, an unexpected friendship begins to blossom. As Michael struggles to leave his past behind and embrace a new future, Breanna becomes one of the few people who believes he's capable of change. But not everyone agrees. Friends and family warn her to stay away, convinced that Michael's past will eventually catch up with him.
