This AU starts at the beginning of issue 12 of the IDW Sonic comics. I would advise at least skimming through a recap of these 12 first issues before reading.
Ever since his creation, Metal Sonic has always had one objective. Destroy Sonic The Hedgehog. It would be easy to reduce him to a mindless killing machine, but he has proven time and again to be more than that. But what truly lies behind this cold emotionless exterior? What is the true reason behind his actions. And more importantly, is it possible for a heartless machine to find... a redemption?
